Planning your wedding can be sooooooo exciting! If you are at the beginning of your wedding adventure, the chances are you will have bought some bridal magazines, had a look online at wedding sites and Pinterest, and maybe have one or two bridal fairs booked in. These are all super useful and fun ways of looking for ‘wedding inspo’, bringing together some ideas of how you want your perfect day to look and
feel.
Once you have found your picture-perfect dream wedding venue (see our previous blog for hints, tips and help here), you are one step closer to putting those ideas into action and this can feel more than a little overwhelming! After all, it can be incredibly difficult to envisage how to dress an empty space, especially if you have to source everything yourself.
There are lots of wedding checklists online, but in my role as a wedding planner and stylist (and having organised my own wedding in a relatively short space of time!), I very quickly realised that many lists neglect to mention the smaller or unique décor items that can really help to make your day feel so very personal and memorable. At the end of the day, your wedding is totally unique and personal to you - that includes everything from the vows you choose to make to each other, to your first dance, your wedding favours and the choices you make when you select your décor.
Carefully selected wedding decorations and beautiful finishing touches can really make such an impact, helping to make your day look and feel really special, from the ‘I do’s right through to the carriages home.
Aside from arranging the hire of our fabulous Wedding Library props and decorations, a huge part of my role is to cover as many décor details with my couples as possible. With this in mind I have created a handy checklist of things that you might like to consider incorporating into your special day. Everything is of course entirely optional – I don’t believe there are rights or wrongs here. However most couples I meet, find it really helpful to have a comprehensive list as a starting point, to tick off the things you definitely want to incorporate and to think about how to personalise those finishing touches.
The checklist has been divided into three easy sections covering your ceremony, reception venue and guest tables. If you find the list helpful, simply print the photo attached at the end of my Blog and work your way through it, item by item. I promise it’s a great way to stay focused on what you really do want and need, whilst keeping in mind what is affordable within your wedding budget. So here we go!
